U.S. DOL: TriNet HR to Pay $1M in Back Wages

TriNet Human Resources will pay $1 million in back overtime wages for violations of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. So reports the Mercury News.

The San Leandro-based company will also pay damages, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The company will shell out up to $13,000 per worker and $58,000 in civil penalties.

TriNet, which has offices in both the U.S. and Canada, allegedly failed to pay time-and-a-half to 267 employees who worked more than 40 hours in a work week. At the heart of the issue was a disagreement about an overtime exemption for a new position classification. TriNet agreed to pay the employees but did not admit liability.
