HR Software Blamed For $3M Payroll Mess In Miami-Dade County

An audit conducted by Miami-Dade County revealed that new human resources software helped lead to overpayments of more than $3 million. So reports the Miami Herald.

dollar 3706548 640 smallMayor Daniella Levine Cava ordered the audit in August after it was discovered that Commissioner Roberto Gonzalez had been overpaid by about $34,000. It took eights month before that error came to light after the Miami Herald inquired about it. Five other commissioners had been underpaid about $8,000 over a five-month span.

Among the findings of the Nov. 9 audit report is that HR had a hard time analyzing some compensation data from the software system, called INFORMS, “because the payroll register report is only available as a PDF document, which makes it difficult to...perform comparative tests over multiple payroll cycles.”
