HR Coursework Not Enough to Be Truly Successful

The key to good HR practice may lie in a set of skills outside of the normal HR curriculum, says Sarah Smith, VP, HR & User Operations, on Quora. So reports Forbes.

Smith says real management experience, either with part-time employees or other professionals will often offer greater long-term value than course work. She said that business, law, economics, psychology and philosophy will each provide valuable skills that will help in real life settings.

It is a must to get into leadership positions and be prepared to foster a culture of growth and prosperity for the employees at your company, too. Further, hiring a good layer that understands state and federal laws applicable to hiring practices will also pay dividends.
