The runaway hit cable series “Mad Men,” about Madison Avenue in the 1960s, is now in the rearview mirror. It’s in some ways a stretch to understand the show’s appeal, with its retro look at a (thankfully) bygone era when sexism, racism and numerous other flavors of bigotry ran amuck in a free-wheeling corporate world prior to the advent of the EEOC and political correctness.
